Poltec Endlinks and Collars (04/07/04)

If you read my swaybar pages, you know I had a slight problem with the rear swaybar moving.  In researching that, I found that the Cusco bars are also prone to flipping over due to high stress such as you might see on the track.  There is no known fix, but I thought I would install the Poltec adjustable endlinks which are stiffer.  In addition, I got one Poltec's prototype swaybar collars to help prevent side to side movement.

Here are the stock and Poltec endlinks side by side.  The Poltecs came from the factory slightly longer than the stock endlinks.  Poltec says this should fix the flipping issue.  The Poltecs use the same spherical bearing as the stock endlinks.

Installing the endlinks is just like installing the swaubar.  Make sure the suspension is loaded by putting the car on ramps.  Then remove the endlink nuts at the lateral links and at the swaybar.  Then install the new ones.

As you can see from both pics, the endlinks are kept in approximately the same orientation.  Torque all 4 nuts to 40 ft-lbs per the Poltec instructions.

The stopper collars should be installed 1/8" from the bushings.  They are two piece and have foam inside to protect the swaybar and prevent slipping.

The collars are designed to prevent the side to side movement of the swaybar.  I tightened the longer allen screws as tight as I could get them.
