Stock Intake Box Mod (08/10/05)
There are many threads on this mod in the various Titan forums on the net, but I wanted to document my attempt here.
| Here is the stock intake box in the engine bay. Undo the two clamps on the box, loosen the clamp on the intake pipe, and remove the lid. | ![]() |

With the lid off, remove the filter, unbolt the two bolts you can see - one in the box and one just outside of it near the fender wall. There is one more you can't get to, but don't worry about it. |
| Just yank up on the box and it will come off the final bolt. Bring it over to the workbench and remove the intake pipe from the box. | ![]() |

Be very careful when removing the intake pipe. It is easy to crack the housing so just go slow. Once it is out, use a hacksaw or dremel to cut the pipe short and on a slight angle. Use sandpaper or a file to remove the burrs. |
| Then simply reinstall the intake pipe back into the box and make sure the clips engage. Your pipe should end up something like this when you're done. | ![]() |

Simply reinstall the box, pushing down on the one bolt that was still in place to ensure it seals, and then reinstalling the other two. Then put the filter back in and reinstall the other parts. I didn't really notice much increase in sound at first. But once I put the Banks exhaust on, I could really hear the intake sucking at WOT and I like it! |
